Happy 4th Y'all!

The girls and their mama took a road trip to visit Mama's People down in Texas the first half of July. Roughly 1500 miles round trip, it is a road trip we won't soon forget (or care to relive anytime soon - ha)! We had a great time!

And she's off!

Caroline is really starting to go with the crawling so I’ve had the cameras out to catch her in motion before she masters it. Guess who CANNOT STAND for Caroline to be in a picture by herself?!?! Therefore, Caroline has a buddy in most of the pictures that document her learning to crawl!

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Katie came home a couple of weeks ago from summer school with a cup full of dirt and some cucumber seeds to grow her own plant. It actually started off pretty well and she was very excited to see the sprouts. Then she decided to water it herself...using Mama's bathtub faucet full throttle.

Date with Daddy!

Daddy has now achieved Rockstar status in our house since he took Katie to see Dora Live! at the Fox Theater in St. Louis on Saturday...and then stopped at Six Flags on the way home just because it looked like some fun. Daddy and Katie had a BIG time. They even stayed after dark for the light parade. Caroline got to go shopping at the lake with Mama...she was so excited she passed out in her Puffs.

Busy Bees

The girls are enjoying summer and go strong all day long. Caroline is on the verge of crawling and in the meantime rolls all over the place. I don't think she ever has a destination in mind, she just rolls. We're constantly pulling her out from under furniture or out of corners when she gets stuck!

Katieisms...

Miss Katie tried her hand at makeup today while Mama wasn't looking. She particularly got carried away with the concealer (see pic above) and PAR-fume. Boy howdy. This was after she snuck watercolors and gave Caroline a couple of screwdrivers to play with. I've mentioned that these girls have plenty of sass and thought I'd document some of my favorite examples before I lose my mind entirely and forget...

"I'm right back!" - when Katie leaves a room she says "I'll be right back," when she returns she always says "I'm right back!"

"I want too much!!" - I regularly tell Katie "that's too much" (again, note concealer pic above) so when she wants more of something she says (or screams) "I want too much!" For instance, "Katie, would you like a little bit of ice cream?" "No, I want too much!!"

And finally, we've been having a lot of discussions lately about where God and Jesus live. We've established that they live in Heaven and that you go there when you die. I've been on to Katie about wiggling and not staying quiet for prayers (i.e. yelling out I want my story! in the middle of a prayer is inappropriate) so we had a long conversation last night about how it's important to thank God for your blessings and talk to Him everyday even though he is in Heaven. Katie's response: "I'll talk to Him when I get there!" God help us!
