Welcome Summer!

It was quite warm today so Katie and Caroline got to kick off Memorial Day weekend by splashing in the pool for the first time this season!

Tea Party Time!

Today was the annual tea party at the playhouse at Grandma's. Katie and Caroline each got to invite a little friend so Ally, Brooklyn and their mamas came out to play. This was the third time Katie and Ally have done this but the first year they actually got it, so they had a big time!

Sunrise serenade...

Lucky Caroline - her bedroom connects to the playroom via the bathroom and Katie has taken a liking to dragging her little piano through the bathroom into Caroline's room first thing in the morning to "help wake her up." She also likes to get in the crib with Caroline in the morning, so Caroline essentially is jolted awake by the piano and then gets to enjoy Katie bouncing in her crib and rolling around. Good thing she is a pretty tolerant little baby!

Well, the light is on!

We are frequently being reminded that Katie's bedroom window faces East and that the days are getting longer. She came looking for Mama sporting her jammies and flip-flops at 6:15 am...

Mama: What are you doing up so early?
Katie: It's not early.
Mama: Yes it is!
Katie: Well, THE LIGHT IS ON!!

Pause.

Mama: You mean the sun is up?
Katie: Yeah!

God love her. Mama's on the hunt for blackout curtains for Katie's room now...:)

Ladies at Lunch

We are finally enjoying some springlike days (like you folks down South have been enjoying since March)!

It's all in the presentation

We all know that Caroline is not a veggie girl. For instance, we discovered the other day that peas make her puke. Literally. We have tried them all and have had no luck getting more than one bite of any veggie down this kid. Until today. Apparently Mama has been going about this all wrong and - GASP! - feeding Caroline straight from the Gerber packs. On a whim, Mama served up sweet potatoes in a pretty pink bowl with a purple spoon and, not only did she inhale the sweet potatoes, but Caroline would have licked the bowl clean if she could have. Evidently this is the presentation Caroline prefers for her meals. Stupid Mama. Give me another year and I'll be peeling her grapes. And this is my low-maintenance kid!!

I'm a Star, I'm a Star, I'm a Star!!

I was out of town for a few days and upon checking in with Daddy after school, he informed me that Katie was the only one in her class who had earned all her stars on the "Star Chart." Immediate response: "Awesome!" while secretly thinking: "there's a Star Chart? What the heck is the Star Chart?!?!" Come to find out it's like a little report card from the preschool. You'd think I would know this. According to the stars (literally), Katie has mastered items like counting to 10, spelling her name, singing the ABC's, and identifying her colors and shapes. She and her BFF Ally are apparently the only ones in the class who know their colors well. I attribute this to the many conversations I've overheard between the two of them about their clothes, shoes and hair accessories. Wonder what that says about their mamas??... Anyway, cheers to our little "star"!
